Globo

neutralbeginneralso called Globo

The lob. Padel's most important transitional shot — used to push opponents off the net and reverse court position.

🎯 When to use it

 • ✓Opponents are at the net and you're not. Push them back.
 • ✓You're under pressure and need time to recover position.
 • ✓Opponents are crowding the net so closely you can't pass them.

⚠️ Common mistakes

 • ✗Hitting it short — the most common error, and an automatic loss of point.
 • ✗Hitting it too flat — opponents have time to set up a smash.
 • ✗Lobbing into the same player's strong side over and over.

🏆 Technique — step by step

 1. 1Open the racket face well below the ball, brush up and through.
 2. 2Aim deep — within the last 2 meters of the court. Short lobs are dinner.
 3. 3Hit it cross-court — gives more distance to land in and forces backhand overheads.
 4. 4Use the side wind: if it's blowing toward the back, you can hit a shorter globo.

💡 Pro tip

A great globo lands behind the service line and forces the opponent to play a backhand overhead. The backhand bandeja is the weakest shot for most players — exploit it.
